Exploring the Jurassic Coast

The Jurassic Coast is a Walk Through Time. With its rocks and fossils you can uncover detailed stories from Earth’s ancient past. Through its landslides, cliffs and beaches you can learn about the natural processes that formed the coast and continue to shape the world today....a fantastic adventure for the 'ickle kids & big kids. Journey time from Essex is just over 3 hours.

The layers of sedimentary rock along the Jurassic Coast can be read like a book. They reveal the history of Earth across 185 million years and form a near complete record of the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Exploring this immense story takes us on a walk through time across deserts, tropical seas, ancient forests and lush swamps, recorded in rock and laid out along the 95 mile stretch of coast between Exmouth in East Devon and Studland Bay in Dorset. Discover the Highlights of a Walk Through Time here.

Our latest adventure took us from Essex to Swanage....arriving late the awning was erected in well under the statutory 15 mins as laid down by SKiN&BLiSS Campers as the acceptable time for erecting said awning. The night temperature starts to fall in late in October so the insulating thermal wrap came in very handy & made a huge difference. A cooked breakfast served in the inflatable awning fuelled us for the day ahead exploring the awesome sights of the Jurassic Coast. Make sure you don't leave with out checking Durdle Door...had to be our fave spot on the Jurassic Coast
